Counter-terrorism
In Africa, terrorism undermines state institutions and impedes economic development. The continent is especially vulnerable because terrorism is not limited to attacks but includes the use of African territories for training, radicalisation and mobilisation of resources through both legitimate and criminal channels. The ISS aims to strengthen policy and capacity in states and regional organisations to investigate, prosecute and adjudicate terrorist cases in line with human rights principles, and within international and regional legal frameworks.
Comprehensive Database of African Counter-Terrorism Law and Policy
Released on 30 September 2010 by the International Crime in Africa Programme (ICAP) of the ISS, the database contains the most updated and comprehensive collection of African counter-terrorism legislation and related laws, policies and relevant regional/international instruments and technical assistance and training manuals.
